Industri
Industri kecil, sedang besar dan rata-rata tercatat mengalami kenaikan signifikan pada periode tahun 2000 hingga tahun 2005 naik rata-rata 11.34% per tahun untuk industri. Dalam kurun waktu enam tahun tersebut, industri kecil-kecil bertambah lebih dari 1000 unit sedangkan industri sedang dan besar juga mengalami pertumbuhan tak kurang dari 320 unit
Produksinya disamping memenuhi kebutuhan lokal juga mempunyai pangsa pasar nasional maupun international. Peningkatan rata-rata nilai investasi industri besar dan sedang per tahun dalam kurun waktu 6 tahun sebesar 12.05% sedangkan industri kecil sebesar 18.03%. Hal ini berarti bahwa sejak tahun 1999 mulai bergerak keluar dari krisis ekonomi, ini bisa dilihat dari pertumbuhan ekonomi yaitu sebesar 1.31% padahal tahun sebelumnya minus 17.38%.


Perdagangan
Mengingat struktur ekonomi Kabupaten Gresik terbesar disumbang oleh industri dimana industri merupakan sektor yang menghasilkan produk barang, maka perdagangan, Hotel dan Restoran berperan sebagai penunjang kegiatan tersebut sehingga wajar sektor ini menempati urutan kedua di dalam pembentukan PDRB.
Pada tahun 2004 sumbangan sektor perdagangan [pada PDRB meningkat sebesar 19.33% dari tahun 2003 dan dari tahun 2004 sampai tahun 2005 meningkat 24.83%
Adapun rata-rata kenaikan per tahun perusahaan kecil selama 6 tahun dari tahun 2000 sampai tahun 2005 sebesar 6.66% serta 5.68% untuk perusahaan menengah dan untuk perusahaan besar rata-rata kenaikannya sebesar 7.94%
Dilihat dari perkembangan usaha perdagangan (berdasarkan SIUP) nampak bahwa ketiga jenis Perusahaan perdagangan yang ada (perusahaan kecil, perusahaan besar menunjukkan berangsur naik sejak tahun 2000 sampai dengan 2005
Sementara itu perkembangan nilai eksport perdagangan mencatat angka fantastic antara tahun 2002 hingga 2003. setelah turun dari 90.9 juta US $ menjadi hanya 1.8 juta US $ ditahun antara tahun 2001 dengan tahun 2002 kemudian meningkat hampir 700% menjadi 662.7 juta US $ di akhir tahun 2003, sedangkan dilihat dari tahun 2004 ke tahun 2005 yaitu 17.65% sehingga ada peningkatan sebesar US $ 26,412,359,060 (www.gresik.go.id) Read more "Industri Dan Perdagangan Kabupaten Gresik..."

Batik

Batik adalah salah satu cara pembuatan bahan pakaian. Selain itu batik bisa mengacu pada dua hal. Yang pertama adalah teknik pewarnaan kain dengan menggunakan malam untuk mencegah pewarnaan sebagian dari kain. Dalam literatur internasional, teknik ini dikenal sebagai wax-resist dyeing. Pengertian kedua adalah kain atau busana yang dibuat dengan teknik tersebut, termasuk penggunaan motif-motif tertentu yang memiliki kekhasan. Batik Indonesia, sebagai keseluruhan teknik, teknologi, serta pengembangan motif dan budaya yang terkait, oleh UNESCO telah ditetapkan sebagai Warisan Kemanusiaan untuk Budaya Lisan dan Nonbendawi (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity) sejak 2 Oktober, 2009. Locking in Paper Supply

Atlanta, GA | Mondi has entered into a long-term supply contract for sack paper with the Semen Gresik Group, said to be the largest cement producer in Indonesia. Semen Gresik has been leading the development for efficient and cost-effective packaging solutions, converting its bags from three-ply to two-ply using the Advantage Select grade from the Mondi Dynas mill in Sweden, which will be the main grade in the coming years.

Dwi Soetjipto, CEO Semen Gresik Group, says, “…Mondi…has shown a long-term commitment not only for paper supplies but also for developing more efficient solutions, clearly bringing us distinct advantages in terms of cost, reduction of material consumption, shorter filling time, and low breakage rates by using high-strength paper.
